Today I will be discussing Jimmy John Liautaud, the founder of the Jimmy John's franchise. This man is particularly interesting to me because he started his business just 12 miles from my hometown of Mattoon, Illinois. He grew up with a very rough home life which helped fuel him to become a successful entrepreneur. In 1983 he was able to start his own sandwich shop that goes by the name of Jimmy John's. Within a few years he found much success and his hard work was paying off. His business grew exponentially and can now be found all across the United States.
His personality really paved the way for his success. He is a very hands on leader that was focused on being the best. With the amount of options available to people in the current day and age ensuring that you have the best product is very important. He and many other people test all their products before they start selling them so he knows that he is making a good decision for the business. Money is not the primary goal but being the best is. The profit just comes from producing a quality product.
Another very important trait of his is innovation. One example is Jimmy John's has started catering boxed lunches for events. This was a great business move that has found great success. Many schools, corporations, and public services choose this as their go-to catering option. He is constantly adding new products that he knows his customers will enjoy. Whether that be a new kind of sandwich or a service such as boxed lunch catering.
