Hi, I am Alex Shumway the founder of Shumway Catering. I am writing this blog to raise awareness for my business. We deliver food to events within a one hundred mile radius of the 61938 area code. I have been preparing food all of my life. My family started to teach me at a young age since they believed being able to cook was a very important life skill. I started learning from my parents who showed me how they cooked dinner every night. Later on I started to learn from my grandma who frequently cooks holiday meals and even caters events herself. I received my first professional experience when I started making food while I worked at the Salvation Army. While I was there I consistently provided meals to many hungry children five days a week. After five years at the Salvation Army I moved on to work in the Walmart deli where I have spent over a year providing a variety of foods to hundreds of people. At Walmart I make subs, fried chicken, sliders, pinwheels, and many other dishes. I started this business to make it easier for people to provide food for events. Event planning can be very stressful and time consuming so having the ability to take something off your plate can be very appealing.
